Design Associate
This is a design and production role for someone with real taste and who is a super star in SketchUp. You'll help shape the work, not just draw it up — making selections, building palettes, and bringing each project from concept to a finished, styled room. You'll work under our senior designers across residential, hospitality, and commercial projects, staying close to every phase: concepts, selections, drawing sets, site visits, procurement, and install.
We want someone who can tell when a room is right and knows how to get it there — and who can also produce the clean documentation that makes it buildable.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
DESIGN & SELECTIONS
- Develop design concepts and space plans alongside the lead designer: layout, furniture arrangement
- Make material and finish selections across stone, tile, flooring, plumbing, lighting, paint, textiles, and furniture
- Build palettes, mood boards, and concept imagery that capture the direction of a project
- Source and specify FF&E; bring options to the table with a clear point of view
- Style spaces for install and photography, down to the last layer
TECHNICAL PRODUCTION
- Produce 2D construction documents in AutoCAD: floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, dimensioned details
- Build 3D models in SketchUp for design development and client review
- Create renderings that show clients what a finished space will look like, using both traditional tools and AI rendering
- Develop millwork drawings, finish schedules, and specification documentation
- Carry red-lines through revisions and keep drawing sets accurate and current
PROCUREMENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Support procurement: tag and document FF&E in Programa, place and track orders, manage deliveries
- Help keep projects on schedule; flag scope and timeline issues before they reach the client
- Attend site meetings and walk-throughs; take field measurements and keep accurate project notes
- Be present and hands-on for installation day, from delivery through final styling
- Assist with weekly client updates
STORYTELLING & BRAND
- Document projects as they come together — photos, video, process notes — for social, editorial, and client-facing use
- Help show how an idea becomes a finished room
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- 1–3 years in interior design, architecture, or a closely related field; degree in interior design or architecture preferred
- A strong portfolio that shows both sides: design sensibility and clean technical work
- Some exposure to FF&E selection, specification, and construction documentation
CHARACTER & APPROACH
- Great taste — you know why a room works and can build the palette that gets it there
- Confident making selections and standing behind them
- Real technical depth — you draft and model fast, and your sets are clean
- A growing fluency in building materials: stone, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring
- Precise and organized; you catch errors before they become problems on site
- Eager to learn the full arc of a project by working alongside senior designers
- Comfortable adopting new tools, and curious about how AI can speed up quality work rather than replace it
- Reliable and hands-on; you own your piece of every project
